Carlynn Whitt
Carlynn (AUTHOR WEBSITE) grew up in East Texas, where she learned to love fried okra and frito pies, went to college in Austin, and studied Italian and took to alt-country. She then moved to New England for grad school, where she learned to appreciate the Texas heat and met my architect-designer-surfer husband, Geoff. After getting a master's degree in theology from Harvard Divinity School, she attended the Rhode Island School of Design and earned a degree in Illustration. Amidst all the paper, paint, and ink of RISD's studios, she found a new love: children's picture books. She currently resides in Los Angeles, and when I am not writing and illustrating my own picture books, you might find me walking on the beach, reading the fiction feature in the New Yorker magazine, or baking the occasional pie. Carlynn has designed logos and promotional T-shirts, produced several animated shorts, painted large-scale scenery for children's theater productions, and created custom murals for children's bedrooms. Her children's illustrations have been published in Highlights High Five magazine, among other publications.
